Watch live: Orbital Sciences' Antares rocket to lift off on test flight (update: success!)

Watch live Orbital Sciences' Antares rocket to lift off on test flight update success!

SpaceX may be the only private outfit currently shepherding cargo to the International Space Station, but Orbital Sciences, which is the second party in NASA's Commercial Orbital Transportation Services effort, is taking a step towards its own ISS resupply missions. Today, the firm's Antares rocket will undergo its very first test flight, taking off from the space agency's Wallops Flight Facility on Wallops Island, Virginia. Liftoff is slated for sometime between 5PM and 7PM, with an 80 percent chance of favorable weather, as opposed to the 45 percent odds and high-altitude winds that foiled its initial attempt yesterday. To watch Antares embark on its maiden voyage, hit the jump for a live video feed.

Update: Antares blasted off at a hair past 5PM and successfully separated from its mock payload. The live stream has wrapped up, but we'll slot in a video of the launch as soon as we get ahold of one.

Update 2: NASA just posted its footage of the rocket taking off, and we've placed the video after the break for your viewing pleasure.

PebbleOS 1.10 supports third-party watch faces, sorts out iOS issues

Pebble OS 11 supports thirdparty watch faces, sorts out iOS issues

Pebble has been on a rapid cadence with smartwatch updates to justify those crowdfunded dollars, and it's not letting up just because watch shipments are well underway. PebbleOS 1.10 has arrived with support for custom watch faces built using the matching (and newly available) SDK. The revamp will be especially helpful for iOS users -- we see several fixes for crashes, permissions and power in store. Everyone gets options to disable backlighting and vibrations in certain conditions, too. As such, there's every reason to fire up the Pebble app for an upgrade, even if it's just for some visual variety.

[Thanks, Uday]

Red Epic Dragon sensor updates start tomorrow for $8,500, watch the actual process at NAB

Red to start performing Epic Dragon sensor updates tomorrow at its NAB booth

Red has announced that Dragon sensor updates will start tomorrow for Epic-M and Epic-X owners and, interestingly, is letting owners (and the public) see the operation for themselves at its NAB booth. The new sensor will bring 6K resolution, 120 fps at 5K and 15+ stops of dynamic range in a slightly larger format, according to Red. Early adopters will be able to pre-order now for $8,500, while Epic owners who wait until Thursday or later will be able to grab the update for $9,500. Filmmakers hoping for a new Epic-M with the Dragon instead of the Mysterium-X sensor will be able to pre-order tomorrow for $29,000 or so. Meanwhile, there's good news for those with the more budget-minded Scarlet -- they'll be able to upgrade to the Epic directly or get a 6k Dragon sensor and ASICs, with pricing details coming tomorrow and pre-orders launching on Thursday. Red may have a tough row to hoe with recent NAB news from the likes of BlackMagic Design and Vision Systems, but how many companies will actually let you watch your camera get operated on? Tokyoflash's cryptography-inspired Kisai X watch tells time via pyramid lens, LED lights

DNP EMBARGO Tokyoflash's cryptographyinspired Kisai X watch tells time via pyramid lens, LED lights

Tokyoflash, maker of highly conceptual, anything-but-your-average-wristwatch products like the Kisai OTO and the Kisai Maru, is outing its latest device: the Kisai X. Like many of the company's timepieces, the X is the result of fan submissions. In this case, it was co-designed by Firdaus Rohman and Heather Sable, who clearly were inspired by cryptography. Like several other Kisai watches, the X doesn't put a priority on easily decipherable digits. In fact, it may take you a little while to master reading the watch face, which sports a pyramid display available with blue, green or red LEDs. The four triangular facets of the watch display the time with very stylized numbers -- the image above shows the watch at 6:22, but we'd recommend checking out the video below for a closer look.

Aside from that intriguing time-telling system, the Kisai X features standard watch amenities, such as date and alarm modes that can be activated by pressing a button on the side of the device. There's also an animation mode that will activate an LED light show every 10 minutes, which is sure to perplex the Casio-wearing masses even more. The battery is USB-rechargeable, and you can pick a black or silver stainless-steel wristband. The Kisai X is available now for $99 (€75, £65), but Tokyoflash says that price will go up in 48 hours. Pebble watch pulls all notifications from the iPhone, but only if you jailbreak

Pebble watch pulls all notifications from the iPhone, but only with jailbreak

The Pebble already does a good job of pulling notifications from stock iOS apps to your wrist, including SMS, email previews and calendar appointments. But if you want a broader range of alerts from third-party apps -- say, Google+ -- then you're basically stuck. Unless, it seems, you're prepared to jailbreak your iPhone. Developer Conrad Kramer recently tweeted to say that his "BTNotificationEnabler" tool is available on Cydia, and that it allows every single arrival in your Notification Center to be sent to a Pebble or other compatible Bluetooth device. It's unlikely to induce many smartwatch owners to liberate their phones, even with the relatively easy and untethered evasi0n hack now available, but at least we'll have one more bullet point the next time someone asks "why jailbreak?".

Bloomberg: 100 people are working on the Apple watch

Bloomberg 100 people are working on the Apple watch

Apple's wearable computing project might not just be the fever-dream of analysts, if Bloomberg is to be believed. The news agency is claiming that Apple's watch project is commanding considerable resources within Cupertino's shadowy prototype labs. Two people who claim to be familiar with the company's plans are saying that engineering chief James Foster and program manager Achim Pantfoerder are heading up a team of around 100 designers, programmers and engineers. Bloomberg goes on to say that the watch will tie in to the iPhone and iPad, but, understandably, received a terse no comment when it approached Apple directly.

Watch talks from Gabe Newell to Ray Muzyka in the collected DICE 2013 presentations, right here

Watch talks from Gabe Newell to Ray Muzyka in the collected DICE 2013 keynotes, right here

This year's DICE was especially heavy on great speakers, and we're happy to say that a partnership between The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences and entertainment trade publication Variety means that most of the great speeches were captured for all to see on YouTube. That means everything from Valve head Gabe Newell's speech on his company's next steps in the hardware realm to Microsoft's discussion of the latest, greatest Halo game -- and even a surprise appearance from the recently retired BioWare doctor, Ray Muzyka -- was recorded. We've dropped the available talks just below the break; sadly, the first day's J.J. Abrams / Gabe Newell back-and-forth on storytelling was an in-person exclusive. We'll have a variety of interviews from DICE with many of the speakers seen beyond the break in the coming days -- keep an eye out (or a bookmark here, of course)!

Dijit acquiring Miso, plans to give you even more to do while you watch TV

Having already declared war on the grid, TV remote / guide app maker Dijit is taking GoMiso under its wing. The company announced via its site that it's in the process of acquiring the social TV developer. The move will incorporate more discovery into Dijit's offerings. The company has announced intentions to keep the Miso and Sideshow apps around, as well as GoMiso founder, Somrat Niyogi, who is coming on as an advisor. Quips, on the other hand, is now on the chopping block -- at least it'll have some clever last words, no doubt.

In Depth: 10 tech trends to watch for in 2013

Some predictions are easy.

In 2013 Facebook will do annoying things, people will get into trouble for posting rude messages on Twitter and it won't be the year of desktop Linux.

But what about the more interesting issues?

Seismic shifts are happening in technology as we move to mobile, always-on devices that stream stuff instead of storing it - and that's causing massive disruption to some of tech's biggest players.

Here's what we see in our crystal ball.

Microsoft's business remains enormous, but it's under pressure: tablet and smartphone sales are booming as more and more computing is done on mobile devices, and the PC market is saturated.

So far at least Microsoft's efforts in new sectors haven't been huge successes: Bing is costing a fortune and remains a distant second to Google in search, Windows Phone trails not just Android and iOS but even the ailing BlackBerry, Facebook doesn't think Windows RT is important enough to justify a dedicated Facebook app and if Microsoft was selling stacks of Surfaces, it would be shouting the numbers from the rooftops. It isn't.

Windows RT, Windows Phone, Surface and Bing are all long bets, of course, but in 2013 we'll see if they're going to pay off.

Steve Jobs said that his greatest invention wasn't a product, but Apple itself - and in 2013 we'll see if his confidence was justified.

After a few wobbles in 2012, including the Maps debacle and the subsequent departure of iOS chief Scott Forstall, Apple has changed the way it does things.

Jonathan Ive has inherited Jobs' role as the man who says yes or no for both hardware and software, and all he needs to do in 2013 is ensure that iOS 7, OS X 10.9, the iPhone 6, iPad mini 2 and iPad 5, and possibly the new Apple TV, are the greatest products the universe has ever seen. So no pressure there, then.

We've reached Peak Text: in many countries, the volume of SMS messages being sent is slowing or starting to decline.

Instead, people are using 'over the top' (OTT) systems such as WhatsApp, iMessage, Skype and Facebook messaging.

These systems can use SMS to send messages but they aren't limited to it, so you can use them to communicate over broadband and Wi-Fi as well as traditional mobile connections.

Expect WhatsApp to be a very big deal next year.

At the time of writing, the first four seasons of Breaking Bad are £44.99 on DVD - or you could stream five seasons as part of a £5.99-per-month Netflix subscription. Netflix, Spotify, Xbox Music, LoveFilm Instant and many, many more offerings are cheaper and more convenient than discs, especially now that fast broadband is generally available indoors and out.

10 tech trends to watch for in 2013Why shop when you can stream? Services such as Netflix are much cheaper than discs

Why pay more for things that you then have to store?

It's make or break for the BlackBerry platform next year: market share is in freefall in both the consumer and the business sectors, and the platform's would-be saviour, the brand new BlackBerry 10 OS, didn't ship in 2012 as originally planned.

10 tech trends to watch for in 20132013 is make or break time for RIM: will BlackBerry 10 save its skin?

It's due in January now, and while we like it a lot, BlackBerry now has to tempt people away from Apple, Android and Windows Phone.

That won't be easy, and if it doesn't happen then RIM is toast.

Forget Everything Everywhere's risibly named 4GEE and its comedy bandwidth allowances: in the UK, the real 4G action will take place in 2013, with all of the operators getting in on the speedy broadband act.

That means we'll see more devices, rapidly improving coverage, and, most importantly of all, competition between operators.

The Wii U's already out, and we should see both the Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4 in 2013 - and these days there's much more to consoles than gaming, as they want to be the devices you use to listen to music, watch videos and communicate on social networks.

Unfortunately for them, they face stiff competition from streaming-enabled smartphones and tablets, many of which are perfectly good games devices, and it's just a matter of time before Apple TV gets Angry Birds.

Could 2013 see the last generation of dedicated games consoles?

In 2012 we saw the Nexus 7, 4 and 10, Amazon's Kindle Fires, Barnes & Noble's Nooks and Microsoft's Surface, and the trend will continue in 2013: Amazon is reportedly working on a smartphone and Facebook might be; Microsoft plans to make more Surfaces next year and possibly a phone too; and more Kindle Fires and Nooks are clearly coming too.

10 tech trends to watch for in 2013Tech firms increasingly want to sell you hardware, software and services together

2013 will be all about the ecosystems, not just the hardware: firms will increasingly want to sell you everything from soup to nuts, and if that means getting into the hardware business then so be it.

Google's ill-fated Nexus Q was US-made, and some of Apple's latest iMacs are assembled in the US instead of China. We don't mean the build-to-order ones, either.

This could be a trend: firms such as GM and GE are 'insourcing', going back to hiring people in the US instead of subcontracting to overseas suppliers.

10 tech trends to watch for in 2013PC assembly usually happens in Asia. Could it be returning to the USA?

For many firms, outsourcing's benefits have disappeared amid record oil price rises (which massively increases shipping costs), rising Asian wages, increased Western productivity and lower energy bills due to the current natural gas boom.

According to The Atlantic, when GE insourced the manufacturing of expensive water heaters, it found that it could make them faster, to a higher standard and for less money than by outsourcing the work.

It's all coming together: as basic networking tech gets smaller and cheaper it becomes more widespread, and before you know it you've got everything from fitness trackers to thermostats, door locks and lightbulbs, connecting to a router or talking to your smartphone.

10 tech trends to watch for in 2013Philips' Hue: controlling lightbulbs with your smartphone? There's an app for that

From cars to coffee machines, if it's possible to control it with an app, someone's going to find a way to do it.

Watch Randi Zuckerberg Have a Facebook Freakout Over Her Photo Going Viral

This story will display in ...

Watch Randi Zuckerberg Have a Facebook Freakout Over Her Photo Going ViralYou probably already read about Randi Zuckerberg's faux-privacy violation on Facebook this week. But odds are you're not part of her inner circle. Lucky for you, a tipster who's "Friends" with RZ gave up the goods directly from her wall.

Watch Randi Zuckerberg Have a Facebook Freakout Over Her Photo Going ViralWhile Randi was admonishing people for lacking "human decency" on Twitter—dispatches she'd delete shortly after writing—she was fretting to her vast Friend following about how to handle the situation. The situation being that a completely innocuous photo she'd inadvertently made public through tagging was circulating the Internet. And to think, it was a viral hit even without the original caption: "Mark convinced everyone to download the 'poke' app, so now my family is standing around sexting. Awk. Ward." Truly! Where was Priscilla?

Watch Randi Zuckerberg Have a Facebook Freakout Over Her Photo Going Viral Of course, Randi, who may or may not like attention, didn't let it go, instead issuing a presidential statement to her friends alone, and the now-notorious tweet about "human decency" to the masses.

We all saw how that turned out.

She then asked: should she ignore the quasi-controversy? (Too late) Was it just a slow news day? (Yes, it was)
Watch Randi Zuckerberg Have a Facebook Freakout Over Her Photo Going Viral

Dozens of Randi's Silicon Valley chums chimed in, including Google exec Hunter Walk, begging RZ to let it go.

Watch Randi Zuckerberg Have a Facebook Freakout Over Her Photo Going Viral Ignore, ignore, ignore, the people said. Tech investor Michael Arrington chimed in with something incoherent.

Watch Randi Zuckerberg Have a Facebook Freakout Over Her Photo Going Viral Former Microsoft big shot Robert Scoble warned that this will only get worse with the spread of Google Glass. Venture capitalist Dave McClure referred fondly to the time the three of them played Rock Band in 2008. Still, the friends all said let it go. She never did.

It's strange to look inside, from a friend's point of view, and see Mark Zuckerberg's sister miss the mark by so many yards. When something is out there, it's out there, free to be shared like any other rumor, joke, or dog meme—and Randi's family is rich because of it. It's not even Facebook's fault. No privacy setting could have prevented this, short of blocking everyone. Although whining about "decency" should make our eyes roll, she's got the human part spot on—so long as we're friends with humans on Facebook, those same people are free to spread whichever parts of your life they choose, and spread it widely. Because we like doing it, and that's what Facebook is for.

Randi's brother's life goal is "Making the world more open and connected," and he's doing a good job at it. But the more connected we are, the quicker we're just going to be the way we were a century ago. We like funny things. We like being in on the joke. And when you're a self-appointed tech celeb, your frustration becomes a currency anyone will spend. One of your over 2,300 Facebook friends sold you out for a quick laugh Randi, and they'll keep doing it over and over again, to all of us, so long as we're all making money for your brother.

SAP in 2013: Five things to watch

It was a typically busy year for SAP, with the company making headlines for strong sales of its HANA in-memory database, high-profile acquisitions and aggressive moves into cloud computing.

Now, here's a look at five things to watch as the enterprise software giant enters 2013.

HANA's honeymoon phase winds down; will the magic last?: There have been no new products more successful, and more hyped, in SAP's recent history than HANA. Since the product went into general availability in June 2011, SAP has sought to place HANA at the center of its long-term technology plans, both in terms of messaging and the technical development necessary to make it a full-blown development platform and a replacement for Oracle's rival database.

There's no question that SAP's HANA hype will continue throughout 2013, but in order for sales to keep rising, SAP may need to pull off a few things.

A broader range of high-profile customer case studies will be crucial, particularly ones involving mission-critical workloads versus experimental projects. These may be easier to come by later in the year, since SAP is expected to announce soon that HANA has been certified for its core ERP (enterprise resource planning) modules.

Another crucial goal will be to show credible evidence of a strong developer and ISV ecosystem around HANA. Many startups are now building applications with the database; if they can bring impressive products to market soon, it will only help HANA's image as a viable platform.

SAP may reveal its HANA road map for 2013 on Jan. 10, when it is scheduled to hold a major news conference.

All eyes on the cloud strategy: SAP spent much of this year announcing a number of new cloud initiatives, including a PaaS (platform as a service) based on HANA and a cloud-based data integration offerings.

Both may become generally available fairly soon, with some announcements likely to coincide with SAP's big Sapphire conference in May.

Sapphire could also see the debut for additional cloud applications from SAP, focused on specific business use cases and lines of business, as well as news on how well ones already in the market, such as the recently introduced Financials OnDemand, are selling.

In addition, SAP watchers will be looking for potential new integration points and upgrades for the cloud applications SAP bought through the acquisitions of SuccessFactors and Ariba.

Will the game change yet again?: SAP co-CEO Bill McDermott is not shy about trotting out sports metaphors in his public remarks, such as his reference to SAP's $5.8 billion acquisition of Sybase in 2010 as a "game-changing transaction."

SAP kept spending big on acquisitions since then, scooping up cloud application vendors SuccessFactors and Ariba for nearly $8 billion in total. It's not clear whether more big deals are on the imminent horizon, but it's possible to take a few guesses at the sort of acquisitions SAP might pursue.

oracle logo

This year, it formed a partnership with NetBasefor its social media analytics, but SAP may end up deciding that such technologies are better owned. That could lead to an acquisition of Netbase or one of the many other social analytics providers, such as Lithium and Attensity. Oracle and Salesforce.com have already bought into social analytics with their respective purchases of Collective Intellect and Radian6.

Oracle made a big splash this week with its acquisition of marketing automation vendor Eloqua for $871 million. While SAP already has such tools, so did Oracle. Its decision to acquire Eloqua spoke to how complex a task marketing automation has become in the age of social media and mobile devices. SAP could decide it needs to acquire a company such as Eloqua competitor Marketo in order to keep pace.

Another breakout product: Over the past year or so, SAP has retooled its research strategy around the notion of internal startups. Rather than having teams of white-coated scientists toil away endlessly in some ivory research tower, churning out experiment after experiment but nothing ready for commercial sale, the goal now is to choose ideas that SAP believes could represent a $200 million market opportunity within three to five years.

HANA is widely considered a success, and at the least, one of the biggest breakout products SAP has had in quite some time. Next year, it will be interesting to see whether SAP's revamped research program can produce something that sparks as big a fire as HANA. Like every company, however, the best ideas still need major buy-in from the top brass.

Movement at the top?:Speaking of which, while there have been no public indications or reports of tensions between SAP co-CEOs McDermott and Jim Hagemann Snabe, that's not to say either of them won't decide that a solo leadership gig is more their speed. McDermott in particular has been the subject of such rumors for some time; in 2013, he may make his move.

Watch NASA Livestream Its Two Lunar Satellites Slam Into the Moon Tonight (Update: Here We Go!)

This story will display in ...Dec 17, 2012 4:52 PM

Watch NASA Livestream Its Two Lunar Satellites Slam Into the Moon Tonight (Update: Here We Go!) Twin NASA orbiters Ebb and Flow have done a fantastic job of mapping lunar gravity at accuracy down to the micron, but that job is over now. The pair won't get to go into any sort of retirement though; instead, tonight, they'll fly straight into the moon. And NASA's going to livestream it. Here's where and when to watch.

The duo is due to make contact at 5:28 p.m. EST near the moon's north pole, but don't expect any gory visuals; the crash point will be in shadow at the time of touchdown. Nonetheless, NASA is planning about 35 minutes of coverage during the event that'll include some control room chaos, interviews with members of the team, and surely a cheer (or maybe gasp) when the satellites finally bite it.

You can check out the stream at over at NASA's website, or just watch it below. So check back and tune in to wish these two a fond farewell. It's sure to be a blast. [NASA via Space.com]

Free holiday shipping specials end Monday: Watch out for the gotchas!

Ian Paul Follow @ianpaul

More by Ian Paul

Attention procrastinators hoping to save money on Xmas-related shipping, this is your last warning before it's too late. As the window for buying and shipping holiday gifts draws to close, retailers Best Buy, Walmart, and many others are enticing shoppers to buy from them with free shipping offers that expire Monday.

According to promoters of so-called Free Shipping Day, 1600 online retailers will offer free shipping on select electronics, clothes, and toys Monday. While the promotion is generally a boon to shoppers, offers vary from retailer to retailer and come with important caveats. For example, some "free shipping" offers restrict the items they will mail for free and others will only ship items at no charge if you spend beyond a certain threshold. It's also important to remember many online shops already offer free online shipping throughout the year.

Amazon, which doesn't officially participate in Free Shipping Day, regularly offers Free Super Saver Shipping on orders over $25. Others, such as Best Buy, are offering free shipping as a special on Monday, but the big box retailer also has a long list of exclusions.

As those that live in Alaska and Hawaii likely already know, the holiday shipping offers and guarantees only apply only those located in the continental U.S.

Bottom line: the real difference between free shipping offers on Monday versus any other day of the year is that you have only days left to get items shipped for free in time for Christmas.

Here is a list of major electronics retailers, including ones that don't officially participate in Free Shipping Day, and their current free holiday shipping offers. If details were available we've also included cutoffs for holiday shipments in time for Christmas.

Best Buy

At Best Buy no minimum purchase is required, but the list of excluded items is more extensive than other retailers. You won't get free shipping on Marketplace items where third-party sellers offer their wares on Best Buy's site. The offer also excludes large items such as major appliances, HDTVs over 40 inches, furniture, or anything else for which Best Buy requires scheduled delivery.

Other excluded items include special order products, ship-to-store items, mobile device orders that cannot be validated online, and items marked as “in-store only.” The really bad news is items purchased on Free Shipping Day aren't guaranteed for Christmas delivery , but the retailer says it will do its best to get it there on time. So you may find some great deals at Best Buy on Monday, but you're taking a risk if you're hoping for Christmas delivery.

Best Buy's last day for guaranteed Christmas delivery (not including Monday) is Wednesday, December 19 before 1 p.m. ET.

Walmart

Walmart will ship online items marked as “homefree” for free on orders of $45 or more. The retailer says it has more than 10,000 items available for free shipping. You can find all of Walmart's electronics shipping for free here . Walmart will not ship for free to P.O. boxes or remote addresses. If you can't shop today, Tuesday, December 18 will be your last day to take advantage of Walmart's “homefree” offer.

Radio Shack

Get free shipping on purchases over $25 at Radio Shack today with a maximum three orders per person. The retailer did not specify any limitations on products or product sizes.

TigerDirect

The online retailer is offering free shipping Monday, but not if you pay with Google Checkout.

Amazon

Monday is the last day to get Amazon's Free Super Saver Shipping today on orders over $25 in time for Christmas. Eligible items will show an “eligible for FREE Super Saver Shipping” label next to them. All purchased items must ship to a single U.S. address, you have to select the option at checkout to “group my items into as few shipments as possible,” and you have to select Super Saver Shipping as your shipping speed. You can find more details on Amazon's site.

Amazon's holiday cutoff is Saturday, December 22 at 3 p.m. ET for one-day shipping (not free). Free shipping ends Monday for regular customers and on Thursday for Amazon Prime members.

shopping

MacMall

Apple buyers can get free Fed Ex two-day shipping on orders over $300 that weigh less than 25 pounds combined. This offer ends Monday at midnight.

Mac Mall will ship anywhere in the country with 2-day delivery until Thursday December 20th at 9 p.m. ET and overnight shipping until Saturday, December 22 at 3 p.m. ET. The holiday cutoff for ground shipping varies by region; you can find holiday shiping details on MacMall's site.

Dell

Until December 19 at 4 p.m. ET, you can get free 2nd day shipping at Dell.com. Just be sure to select 2nd day shipping as your shipping method at checkout.

BJ's

BJ's Wholesale Club is offering free shipping on all TVs, home theaters, computers, and cameras on Monday. There didn't appear to be any restrictions, but make sure any items you purchase are marked with “shipping included” just to be sure.

Guaranteed Christmas delivery ends Monday and only on select items.

Office Max

Free shipping on all orders over $20. No apparent restrictions. The holiday cutoff is December 19 at 4 p.m. Eastern.

Toshiba Direct

Free shipping on prebuilt laptops marked with the “RapidShip” label until December 19 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern (this is also the holiday shipping cutoff). You can't put TVs, tablets, All-in-one PCs, or customized laptops in the same order. Accessories could ship separately, and you have to select “FREE 2-day air shipping” at checkout.

Apple

The Apple Store is currently offering free 2-3 day shipping on everything in the store. Holiday cutoffs vary by product and whether you want engraving. You can find Apple's holiday shipping deadlines online.

Microsoft Store

Microsoft's online shop on Monday was offering free 2nd day shipping. The software giant's shop did not specify holiday cutoff times.
