Motorola 'Droid Maxx' image leaks out, could be extended battery version of Droid Ultra

Motorola 'Droid Maxx' image leaks out, could be extended battery version of Droid Ultra

Closing out a week full of Motorola leaks, @evleaks has posted this image of a device claimed to be the Droid Maxx, due on Verizon later this year and flashing a Kevlar frame with capacitive buttons. Earlier tweets and a source from Droid Life suggest this is the XT1080M, an extended battery version of the Droid Ultra (XT1080) that popped up on Motorola's website. An XT1080 recently appeared in the FCC database as well, spurring rumors we'll see more Droid-branded smartphones on the Big Red carrier very soon. To round out the rumors, the XT1030 is pegged as a Droid Mini, plus the XT1060 Moto X variant for Verizon. There's still no word on specs, but at this rate we'll probably have more info by tomorrow.

New Nissan Leaf comes to the UK with battery leasing option, extended range

NEW NISSAN LEAF: MORE AFFORDABLE, MORE FLEXIBLE

New British-built version boasts over 100 improvementsThree trim levels offer buyers plenty of choiceBattery leasing available for the first timeEnhanced battery warranty gives added peace of mind

The next generation of Nissan's all-electric LEAF has arrived – and for the first time, buyers can lease batteries for the 100% electric car and choose one of three trim levels.

A new pricing structure has been introduced to reflect the three trim levels and the battery-leasing options now available – but things are far from complicated. Cars bought with leased batteries will be known as 'Flex' models and buyers will be able to get behind the wheel of an entry-level Visia LEAF .

The new LEAF features more than 100 improvements over its predecessor – many of which were made as a result of feedback from Nissan's active community of LEAF owners.

Most notably, the car's range has been extended from 109 miles to 124 miles. And its battery is capable of recharging in about half the time of the first-generation LEAF.

The longer range has been achieved by improving the LEAF's aerodynamics and its regenerative braking system and a more efficient E-powertrain. The real world range has also been improved with the introduction of a new heating system which is 70 per cent more efficient through the use of a heat pump in the system.

But that's far from the whole story. New interior trim, the addition of Nissan's Around View Monitor technology and new suspension settings specifically tailored for European roads build on the LEAF's unique driving experience.

The three trim levels available to buyers are Visia, Acenta and Tekna. All models have increased boot space because of the relocation of the charging point and an enhanced interior trim. There is a height adjust facility on both front seats and more foot space for passengers.

At the top of the range, Tekna features a BOSE™ energy-efficient sound system with a subwoofer and seven speakers. In addition, there are 17-inch alloys and LED headlamps.

Whichever route buyers choose to LEAF ownership, peace of mind is assured with Nissan's enhanced battery warranty. The warranty on the previous-generation LEAF's battery covered it against defective materials or workmanship for five years. The extended warranty also protects against capacity loss, with a commitment to repair or replace a battery which falls short of what might reasonably be expected***.

Nissan's announcement of a new era for emission-free motoring continues to drive the electric revolution forward. Owning an electric car has never been more appealing. Some of the benefits are well-known, such as the lack of Vehicle Excise Duty and exemption from the London congestion charge, but it's becoming easier to charge up a Nissan LEAF on the move with more public charging points opening all the time. And of course, the cost of a full battery charge is a fraction of the price of a tank of petrol.

Jim Wright, Managing Director of Nissan Motor (GB) Ltd, said: "We are very proud of the new Nissan LEAF, which underlines our commitment to the future of electric motoring.

"With more than 100 improvements over the outgoing model, it really does mark the next stage in the electric motoring revolution. Built at our record-breaking Sunderland plant for British drivers using British roads, we're looking forward to it becoming our next home-grown success story."

StickNFind Bluetooth tracking stickers to ship next week, get extended range

StickNFind Bluetooth tracking stickers to ship next week, get extended range

StickNFind managed to raise a grand total of $931,970 through IndieGoGo since we first caught up with it, and now it's set to start shipping next week. In case your memory requires a bit of jogging, the quarter-sized disc can help you hunt down whatever it's attached to thanks to a smartphone app that keeps tabs on its distance via Bluetooth. Mobile World Congress also brings news that the miniature homing tags have gotten a redesigned companion application, an extended range of up to 150 feet (ratcheted up by 50) and a tracking accuracy of within two inches. StickNFind is being geared up for an arrival on retail shelves this April, but there's still no word regarding which shops will carry it.

Stick-N-Find Technologies Announces Precision Locating, Extended Range and Future Plans for StickNFind at Mobile World Congress 2013

StickNFind Ships Ahead of Target Ship Date, With Enhanced Features And Completely Redesigned Mobile App

Mobile World Congress, BARCELONA - February 26, 2013 – Today, Stick-N-Find Technologies (http://www.sticknfind.com) held its press conference at Mobile World Congress, making multiple announcements around the production of its popular ultra-small Bluetooth location sticker, StickNFind. Four major announcements included:

Precise Radar Resolution – Enables users to pinpoint stickers within two
inches of its location, using Stick-N-Find's patent-pending algorithms and techniques.
Extended range of up to 150 feet - Achieved with custom designed antenna and a
proprietary mixed non-absorbant plastic casing, enabling expanded reach.
Completely intuitive redesigned, easy-to-use consumer mobile application.
Shipping begins next week – One month ahead of schedule and a first early shipment announced in the crowdfunding industry

"We have been working day and night to make the SticknFind Stickers amazing. Our focus has been on reliability and easy of use. Our goal was the ability to pinpoint the sticker in a large house, without the necessity of the buzzer feature. Our radar resolution now is so high, the App will guide any user within inches from the sticker," said Jimmy Buchheim, CEO of Stick-N-Find Technologies. "Furthermore we have been working very closely with our suppliers, we even produced our first 20,000 stickers in USA, to ensure that we shipped before our promised dates (originally March 31st). It was exciting for us to announce the shipped date for our contributors, but also the new feature-rich easy to use mobile application. New features on the App include the pinpoint location accuracy and extended range of up to 150 feet. We will continue to make improvements on the performance and form factor of StickNFind."

StickNFind made its debut in December 2012 on Indiegogo, with its first showcase at CES 2013 in Las Vegas, NV. StickNFind was one of the top crowdfunded projects of all time on the Indiegogo platform raising more than $930K in less than six weeks.

Other announcements during the press conference included a future-looking retail launch projection for StickNFind in April 2013 (retail partners soon to be announced). In addition, Buchheim announced StickNFind's enterprise application projections for the medical industry, government agencies and libraries for both StickNFind and its longer range device, BluTracker.

Samsung's Galaxy S3 extended battery to become available Jan. 5, in Germany at least

Android Central

Before the holidays, an OEM extended battery kit surfaced for the Samsung Galaxy S3, initially going on pre-order at a British retailer. While that same retailer is still taking pre-orders for the item without an expected shipping date, Amazon Germany has gone one better.

According to the item's listing on Amazon.de, the Samsung Extended Battery Kit will become available on January 5. Pricing is relatively consistent with earlier reports, coming in at €39.90, slightly cheaper even than the expected RRP of £40 (€48) in the UK. There is no word yet on if/when we can expect to see wider availability of this.

Additionally, click on past the break for a quick video -- in Slovenian, and you'll want to spin on to about 1:05 -- which demonstrates the extended battery and replacement battery door. The best news? It doesn't seem to add much additional thickness to the phone.
