Alleged press shots out LG Optimus F5 as Verizon's mid-range Lucid 2

DNP

About a week ago, we went hands-on with LG's new mid-range LTE-capable Optimus F5 and F7 smartphones at MWC. At the time it was unknown where these handsets would land in the US, but it appears that we now have the goods on the former. According to a pair of alleged press shots obtained by UnwiredView, LG's F5 will be showing up on Verizon in the not so distant future. Said to be a follow up to last year's Lucid, this mid-tier device's main bullet points include a modest 4.3-inch qHD display, a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera (capable of 1080p video capture) and Android 4.1.2. Sure, the Lucid 2's specs remind us more of a keyboard shortcut and less of a powerful storm -- we just hope that its price tag will also be a refresh. If so, that should make this device a considerable option for first-time smartphone buyers looking to make the jump to LTE.

More HTC One press shots leak showing it does have a back

More HTC One press shots leak showing off the back

We've seen many leaks and teasers for HTC's M7 handset, rumored to arrive as the One, but apart from a grainy TV screenshot, we haven't seen its palm-friendly side. French site NowhereElse has allegedly come into possession of yet another press shot of the all-but-unannounced handset, with the back of the black model mostly on show. The side-by-side position of the camera and flash matches the mystery white phone Peter Chou was caught with, and apart from that, we can see a couple of shiny bands near the bottom and top, a small Beats Audio brand, the HTC logo and no apparent loudspeaker grille. We'll inevitably get the full story at the HTC event starting later today, and we'll be there to liveblog every minute of it.

Huawei Ascend P2 flaunts svelte profile in more leaked shots

Huawei Ascend P2 flaunts svelte profile in more leaked shots

As MWC draws near, it's not surprising to see an increase in leaks, and today we bring you a few more pictures of Huawei's Ascend P2, which recently made a cameo in some unofficial product shots. The 4.7-inch full HD handset is expected to feature Android 4.1.2, a quad-core 1.8 GHz processor (developed in house), 2GB of RAM, 8GB of built-in storage (plus microSD), a 13MP shooter and a 2200mAh battery. Slotting below the 5-inch Ascend D2 and 6.1-inch Ascend Mate we saw at CES, the Ascend P2 is rumored to be less than 6.45mm thick with Nexus 4-like on-screen buttons. Of course, since the FCC is unlikely to certify such a svelte device, it's likely we'll see a tweaked version of this phone if it ever makes it to the US -- then again, it looks thicker to us in the pictures. Pricing is supposedly targeting the 3,000 Yuan mark ($480), unsubsidized. Guess we'll find out more in Barcelona, right? Hit the break for a couple more images.

Nexus 4 trots out in white, sets unicorn fans aflutter (update: more shots)

0Nexus 4 trots out in white, sets unicorn fans aflutter

We're pretty fond of unicorns white phones here at Engadget, especially rare ones like the white Nokia N9. So you can imagine our excitement when we came across this photo of a white Nexus 4 over at Phone Arena. While rumors of a white Nexus 4 have been swirling around the intertubes for some time, a picture speaks a thousand words, right? We took a long, eagle-eyed look at this image and didn't see any signs of trickery. Obviously this doesn't mean a white Nexus 4 is on the way -- it could just be a dummy handset and / or a one-off prototype. Still, if last year's white Galaxy Nexus is any indication, there's a chance this is the real deal. We've reached out to Google and LG for comment, so stay tuned -- it sure would be lovely to add this beast to our stable.

Update: The folks over at Tinhte managed to grab a closer look at the device. Hit the second source link for a full photo tour -- we've added another shot of the back (in full glittering glory) after the break.

Oppo previews sample shots taken with Find 5's Sony-made Exmor RS sensor

Sony Exmor RS

Sony pulled the plug on the original specs for its next-gen Exmor RS sensor, pushing a rollout for those modules into the new year. So while that move, made for quality control purposes, guarantees that a new batch of Xperias outfitted with the tech won't appear until 2013 at the earliest, imaging fanatics curious for a preview can get a sneak peek courtesy of Oppo. Baked into the Chinese manufacturer's newly announced Find 5 -- a quad-core S4 Pro Android Jelly Bean handset with a 5-inch 1080p display -- is the top shelf 13-megapixel version of Sony's sensor tech. Oppo's provided a few curated snapshots taken with the camera on its site and, as you'll see, the resulting images are rich with color and exhibit a fine level of detail. We'll reserve judgement until we can get our hands on a review unit for extensive testing. Until then, feast your eyes on the samples at the source below.
