Pink Nintendo 3DS XL misses Easter, arrives in the UK later this Spring

Pink Nintendo 3DS XL misses Easter, arrives in the UK later this Spring

If the adorable patterns on the Animal Crossing special edition 3DS XL didn't tug at your heart (and wallet) strings, perhaps this English rose will. Set to arrive in the UK on May 31st, there's no software tie-in to mark the occasion, just the vivid hues of an entirely pink handheld. For the international purveyors of all things kawaii, there's still a pearl-finish pink and white 3DS XL listed on Amazon. Regardless of the shade, both options should pair really well with your vast collection of Hello Kitty tat goods.

BlackBerry Q10 hits the FCC en route to a spring launch

Image

We're fairly certain that the BlackBerry Q10 will make its hometown debut on April 30th, but Thorsten and Co. haven't been very precise about when the handset will land in the US. Thanks to the FCC, however, we know that it can't be too far out, as the first BB10 device with a physical QWERTY keyboard has been passed fit for human consumption by the federal agency. We'd have guessed that professional keyboardist Alicia Keys would be first in the queue, but she probably got a freebie ahead of time.

Sony promising two new PlayStation Vita apps for spring in Friend Network and Imaginstruments

Sony promising two new PlayStation Vita apps for spring in Friend Network and Imaginstruments

Two PlayStation Vita apps from international waters are making their way to North American Vitas this Spring, Sony announced today. Both Friend Network and Imaginstruments are headed to the PlayStation Network on Vita, and neither was given a price -- each is free in its given country of origin (Japan and Europe, respectively). The former is a social networking app that encourages new relationships (with strangers! gross!) through a variety of minigames, and it stars little known PlayStation mascot Toro. You can also integrate Twitter and Facebook to find real life friends, with the ultimate goal for reaching 100. The latter is a music app that enables some light music composition; think of Imaginstruments as a pared down Korg synth. Take a look at each app in action, just beyond the jump.

Wikipad in miniature: 7-inch gaming tablet to debut in spring for $249, 10.1-inch sees further delay

Wikipad in miniature 7inch gaming tablet to debut in spring for $249, 101inch sees further delay

When a company delays a product for "minor refinement," we typically expect to see small changes that contribute to a stronger overall product. That wasn't Wikipad's approach -- when it took its namesake gaming tablet into the lab for "minor" tweaks, it took a few inches off its screen size. The Wikipad is now a 7-inch tablet, slated to launch in spring for $249. It's smaller, the company says, but no less powerful -- it's keeping the Tegra 3 GPU the original build promised, not to mention 1GB of DDR3 RAM, 16GB of Flash memory, a 2-megapixel front facing camera and a 1,280 x 800 resolution display.

Wikipad's President of sales, Fraser Townley, told us the gamepad design hasn't changed much either. "We took the pinball wizard approach," he said. "We made everybody in the room shut their eyes, and try the controllers. It's not about the look, it's about the feel. Once we got the feel right, then we could worry about the look. That's how the ten inch was born, and that's how the seven inch stayed the same." The attachment boasts new buttons (now labeled a, b, x and y) with a chrome finish, but seems otherwise unchanged. Wikipad is mum on specific availability, but we're told we can expect to hear more after Chinese New Year. As the 10.1-inch original design? It's still coming, but Townley couldn't it narrow it down further than "before Christmas." Read on for Wikipad's official press announcement, or click here to find out how the tablet was cut down to size.

NEC's spring allinone PC lineup melds TV with Twitter

Like all-in-one PCs, TV and Twitter? NEC's new desktop PCs might just hit the spot -- if you live in Japan, that is. The company just launched its spring 2013 lineup of Valuestar systems which will be available in two display sizes on February 7th. Valuestar W computers pack a 23-inch screen and Core i7 processor with the 3D-capable VW970/LS costing ¥235,000 ($2,550) and the 2D-only VW770/LS listing for ¥215,000 ($2,330). The Valuestar N series boast a 21.5-inch display and come in three versions: VN770/LS with Core i7 for ¥195,000 ($2,110), VN570/LS with Core i3 for ¥160,000 ($1.740) and the ¥125,000 ($1,360) Celeron 1000M-equipped VN370/LS. While there are no details on RAM or storage options, all PCs run Windows 8 with Office 2013, and feature TV tuners, Blu-Ray drives (DVD on the VN370/LS), DLNA support, Yamaha sound systems, built-in video tutorials and access to music.jp's service. The 23-inch models provide instant-on TV functionality with three TV tuners (two for recording, one for viewing) while 21.5-inch units include dual TV tuners. NEC offers several ways to control the computer's TV functionality: via standard remote control, using gestures (except VN370/LS), with a custom smartphone / tablet app and even from Twitter. Yes, you can now DM your Valuestar system (even when it's turned off) and tell it to record TV -- you can also have it monitor Twitter for certain keywords / TV shows and overlay a popularity meter. What could possibly go wrong?

RCA Mobile TV Tablet combines DTV with Dyle, arrives this spring for $299

LAS VEGAS, NV / NEW YORK -- Jan 04, 2013 / (http://www.myprgenie.com) -- The worlds of TV viewing and handheld computing come together in the new RCA Mobile TV Tablet (Model DDA850R) introduced next week at the International CES as the electronics industry's first dual-tuner mobile TV. This device will include a standard over-the-air DTV tuner, along with a mobile TV tuner that is compatible with Dyle(TM)mobile TV, a service that enables consumers to watch live, local TV while they are on the go. The RCA Mobile TV Tablet is the first tablet device to feature an integrated mobile TV tuner with Dyle mobile TV, offering viewers on-the-go access to 130 mobile TV stations throughout the country. With a stunning 8-inch screen, the RCA Mobile TV Tablet is both a portable TV set and a fully functional high-definition Android touchscreen tablet with Wi-Fi, dual cameras, and GPS functionality.

"The addition of both stationary and mobile TV capability in a tablet receiver means that viewers will never be out of touch with the latest news, weather, sports, and favorite channels. Our new RCA Mobile TV Tablet includes a telescoping antenna to receive regular digital TV channels when you're not moving, and mobile TV when life keeps you busy and on the move. Mobile TV from Dyle is ideal for keeping up with local broadcasts when on-the go," Chris Lee, Vice President of Marketing for Digital Stream. "Research consistently shows that consumers who try mobile TV not only watch television with greater frequency, but they also enjoy catching up on the latest information wherever they go. Reaction to our first generation of standalone Mobile DTV receivers has been very positive, and we look forward to more widespread and more advanced services made possible by the addition of this Mobile TV Tablet to the RCA product portfolio."

"The rapid advancement of mobile TV technology is giving consumers unparalleled flexibility in how they watch TV and our integration with DST offers yet another way to view TV while they're on-the-go," said Salil Dalvi and Erik Moreno, co-general managers of Mobile Content Venture (MCV). "This is another great example of executing against our broader go-to-market strategy and commitment to delivering great, user-friendly technology to users everywhere."

As the first tablet enabled with both an ATSC Mobile DTV tuner and Dyle mobile TV, the RCA Mobile TV Tablet is ideal for virtually any viewing environment -- from the kitchen countertop to the back seat of a car. Dyle is now on-the-air in more than 35 markets, delivering popular network TV shows and local news. The RCA Mobile TV Tablet also receives mobile digital TV channels from broadcasters not affiliated with Dyle.

Other TV functions built into the device creating a one of a kind viewing experience include real-time signal strength display, on-screen program information display and digital closed captioning. Additionally, features like language settings, auto channel scan and a favorite channel setting enable the consumer to take the RCA Mobile TV Tablet and personalize the device to fit their needs.

Fully-Functional Tablet PC

With a bright 8-inch high-definition (1024x768) In-Plane Switching touchscreen, the RCA DMT580D is a fully functional WiFi 802.11b/g/n Android tablet featuring a Cortex A5 1GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of on-board flash memory.
