Google Glass support page lists tech specs for camera, battery, audio and display

The trickle of Google Glass details (they're shipping, the API is available and an Android companion app is live) has suddenly turned into a flood tonight, as 9to5Google points out a support page listing the device's technical specs. While we knew some bits about its capabilities (some of which were explained in a patent application), the official list reveals its display will be equivalent to a 25-inch HD screen viewed from eight feet away, while it's camera does 5MP stills and 720p video. It packs 16GB of storage onboard, 12GB of which are available to the wearer. Audio is transferred via a bone conduction transducer, while its wireless capabilities include Bluetooth and WiFi 802.11 b/g. There's a micro-USB charger included with it and the battery is expected to last a "full day of typical use" although video and Google Hangouts will drain it more quickly. Also published is an FAQ for things like "Is it ok to go scuba diving with Glass?" (A: No, jackhammering is also probably out, while laws concerning mobile devices and driving may rule out use behind the wheel as well), covering things any Explorers should know before their headset arrives.

Samsung Galaxy S IV design, specs potentially leaked on Twitter (update: they're from Expansys)

Samsung Galaxy S IV design, specs potentially leaked on Twitter

Even as the secret of Samsung's Galaxy S IV has been handed off to some teenager, the @evleaks Twitter account (which has been reliable in the past) just posted a supposed pic of and specs for the phone. Along with what's clearly a rendering and potentially just a placeholder image of the phone, the specs list a Super AMOLED Full HD screen of unknown size, 16GB/32GB/64GB storage options with 2GB of RAM, a 13MP camera and Android 4.2 OS. A second image shows the same mockup lined up with previous Galaxy phones apparently confirming its status as the largest one yet, although that's not surprising given recent trends. Of course, given what we know about the lengths Samsung went to protect the design of the Galaxy S III (multiple designs, hand-delivered prototypes), you'll forgive us for reserving judgement until the real thing is shown off on March 14th.

Update: We've been informed that both renders are from e-tailer Expansys, which adds yet another dusting of salt to the reliability of these specs. The listing also throws in that rumored eye-based scrolling feature. Jeremy is in big trouble.

Update 2: Now evleaks has deleted the original tweets -- anyone else ready for 9 more days like this?

Motorola Droid Razr M HD specs leak out, is the device real?

Specs for an alleged Motorola Droid Razr M HD have just leaked out and our anonymous source whispers some interesting details about a 4.5-inch Jelly Bean device with an HD screen and position closer to the mid-range.

As 1080p screens become the norm in high-end smartphones in 2013, devices with 720p display are logically expected to be pushed into the mid-range segment.

This rumored Motorola Droid RAZR M HD would build on the legacy of the 4.3-inch qHD RAZR M, but use a Snapdragon S4 Plus chip with a 1.5GHz dual-core Krait processor.

What seems a bit weird is that this rumor points to a whopping 3,300mAh battery on this alleged RAZR M HD. That would be good news, even too good to be true.

The whispers about this device are not backed by any image, or any other substantial proof, so definitely take this with a huge grain of salt. Still, it seems like a logical device for Motorola to release. Take a look at the expected full spec sheet:

Queen checks out 3D speech with sparkly custom specs

Queen checks out 3D speech with sparkly custom specsBit nicer than this pair, we'd wager

The Queen will be comin' atcha in 3D this Christmas Day, so the eighteen of you with 3D TVs in your living rooms can enjoy her seasonal message of hope and goodwill in three dimensions.

Of course, The Queen didn't get to be The Queen without keeping a close eye on her pre-records, so she's donned a pair of 3D specs to give her Christmas message the once-over.

The Queen doesn't just wear any old 3D glasses though; no, she wears specially-made blinged out Swarovski crystal encrusted ones that will have the cast of TOWIE quivering with envy.

The crystals form a letter Q on each side (for Queen, presumably, although she may have preferred an E and not just being defined as her job title but as a person).

It's not the first time Queen Elizabeth II has rocked this particular pair - she first wore them in 2010 during a visit to Toronto, although we doubt they've seen much action since then.

A spokeswoman for Buckingham Palace said that the Queen thought the 3D footage was "absolutely lovely". We look forward to snoozing through it on Christmas Day at 3pm.

Updated: Windows 8 laptops release date, specs and prices

Microsoft has fundamentally changed the way Windows works with Windows 8, ensuring it works better with touchscreens and tablets.

But what about Windows 8 laptops, Ultrabooks and convertibles? They're all here, too.

One thing Windows 8 is bringing in spades is convergence. A Windows 8 Ultrabook that has a touchscreen? Check. A laptop with a flip-around screen? Check. Tablet PCs that slide up to reveal a keyboard? Check.

It's tough differentiating these from tablets at times, but the one stipulation they have to be in this article is that they have an attached keyboard and also run x86 Intel or AMD processors. None of the machines in this article are ARM-based.

That means they don't run Windows RT, the version of Windows for ARM systems. They do, however, run either Windows 8 or Windows 8 Pro. Check out our article on the different Windows 8 versions.

So here's the list of Windows 8 laptops, notebooks, convertibles and Ultrabooks we've looked at so far - and make sure you read our Windows 8 review, too.

Specs for HTC's mysterious M7 handset see daylight

Specs for HTC's mysterious M7 handset see daylightThe One X+ may be getting its replacement soon

Though M7 has a spy-like ring to it, the term actually refers to a rumored HTC smartphone that has proved to be equally enigmatic.

But today provided the first break in the case – specs for the upcoming smartphone leaked onto the web.

The M7 (likely a codename) is supposed to be the successor to HTC's popular One X handset. Though it won't be as technologically innovative as the One X, the new device is reported to have some industry firsts built in.

The Taiwanese manufacturer had a few disappointing quarters and some bad financial news, so a phone that rides on the success of the One X series might be just what the doctor ordered.

The M7 is said to feature a full HD 4.7-inch screen with a pixel density of 468 ppi. If that's true, that would make the new HTC handset about 40 percent sharper than the current iPhone 5.

The new SoLux display is supposed to be visibly better than the previous Super LCD2 display in terms of viewing angles, outdoor visibility and color accuracy.

Along with being quite a bit sharper, the M7 should run faster than the One X thanks to the new smartphone's 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor.

The new device will pack 2GB of RAM, come with 32GB of internal flash storage and have a 2300mAH battery. But there doesn't seem to be any way to expand the storage memory at the moment, one flaw it may share with the One X+.

The M7 is also expected to ship with Jelly Bean.

The phone should feature some goodies for pocket photographers.

The rear camera has a 13MP image sensor and a f/2.0 lens. The front camera packs a 2MP lens, and both are supposed to take 1080p video.

The new image sensor (called "Cinesensor") has a few other tricks, such as super slow-motion and video HDR.

Along with all those visual upgrades, the M7 is said to come with some enhanced sound abilities. The speaker is designed by Beats, the Dr. Dre-branded sound technology. And "Clear Words" tech should make phone conversations easier to hear.

As for voice calls, the device should not only be LTE connected, but also offer a next-gen Wi-Fi 802.11ac connection that is rumored to be three times faster than the current 802.11n WLAN wireless tech.

Unfortunately, the launch date and pricing of the M7 didn't leak along with the technical specs, but the the phone could launch in early 2013, potentially at CES or the Mobile World Congress.
