LaCie Blade Runner drive now available, offers stand-out storage for $300

LaCie teased us at CES with the prospect of a rare high-concept hard drive design in the Blade Runner, but it left out the rather important matter of when we could buy the Philippe Starck-designed storage. As we've discovered, we didn't have to wait long -- the Blade Runner has just become available. Plunk down $300 and you'll get a 4TB, USB 3.0-based external drive that melds a blob-like disk shell with aluminum blades that both cool the main body and create a (minor) conversation piece. Just be sure to hurry if you're looking for a dash of art with your extra drive space, as it's doubtful that the Blade Runner's 9,999-unit production run will last.

CM 10.1 nightlies now available for many Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 variants

When the official software update well has dried up, one can always rely on the developer community to keep one’s device less ancient-like. We know that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 won’t make it past Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, but it doesn’t mean owners of the Tab can’t get a taste of Jelly Bean.

Samsung's Galaxy S3 extended battery to become available Jan. 5, in Germany at least

Before the holidays, an OEM extended battery kit surfaced for the Samsung Galaxy S3, initially going on pre-order at a British retailer. While that same retailer is still taking pre-orders for the item without an expected shipping date, Amazon Germany has gone one better. 

According to the item's listing on Amazon.de, the Samsung Extended Battery Kit will become available on January 5. Pricing is relatively consistent with earlier reports, coming in at €39.90, slightly cheaper even than the expected RRP of £40 (€48) in the UK. There is no word yet on if/when we can expect to see wider availability of this. 

Additionally, click on past the break for a quick video -- in Slovenian, and you'll want to spin on to about 1:05 -- which demonstrates the extended battery and replacement battery door. The best news? It doesn't seem to add much additional thickness to the phone.

Mophie OutRide action-cam case for iPhone now available: 170 degrees of Xmas footage for $150

We took a look at Mophie's OutRide ruggedized action-cam case back at IFA in August, but the month of December notoriously brings many more photo ops. Perhaps that's why the company has chosen to announce availability of the case, which sports a lens capable of 170-degree viewing angles, on the cusp of year-end holidays. The waterproof OutRide is available now for $150 -- and that price includes a variety of mounts for handlebars, surfboards and helmets. A companion app is a free download from the App Store and lets users edit and share their recorded footage. The OutRide is currently only compatible with the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, so those who are gifted Apple's latest handset will have to sit this one out.
