WordPress 2.3 for Android gains Holo interface and menu drawer

WordPress 23 for Android gains Holo interface and menu drawer

Bloggers have been getting plenty of love on Android as of late, and if WordPress happens to be your platform of choice, you'll be glad to know that your time in the sun has arrived. Similar to Tumblr's recent overhaul, WordPress was just updated with a new Holo interface, and it's really quite the looker. First and foremost, you'll notice that WordPress now looks like a proper Android app, complete with an action bar for tasks such as creating posts and sharing to other apps. With a flick of the thumb, you'll also notice a menu drawer that's accessible from the left-hand side, which replaces the old school dashboard interface that was found in previous versions of WordPress for Android. We can't say the new features will help you overcome writer's block, but at least you'll have something pretty to look at while you ponder your next great post.

Super Talent Showcases Dual Interface 'UltraDrive MX' SSD Series

Solid state drives (SSDs) are rather simple devices that you plug into your PC and fill with data. Not all SSDs are created equal, however, and Super Talent's latest twist on flash based storage is a dual-interface design. In addition to a SATA II interface, Super Talent's new UltraDrive MX2 SSDs also feature a mini-USB connection. What's the point? To make upgrading easy, Super Talent says.

Super Talent's decision to include a mini-USB connection is predicated on users wanting to port their laptop's existing software setup over to the new drive. Just plug the UltraDrive MX into one of your laptop's USB ports, use an imaging program like Acronis to create a copy, and then replace the HDD with the SSD.

What you end up with is a faster system, though the UltraDrive MX Series isn't going to win any speed records. It's limited to SATA II and tops out at 240MB/s sequential read and up to 180MB/s sequential write transfers (write performance varies by capacity).

"SSDs are becoming more accessible to the everyday user. The UltraDrive MX2 is our premium consumer offering for those wishing to max out the performance of laptops and desktops. The new dual interface we offer also allows users the flexibility for it to function as an internal or external drive," Super Talent said.

The UltraDrive MX Series comes in 60GB, 120GB, 240GB, and 480GB capacities. No word on when they'll be available to purchase or for how much.

Leaked BlackBerry 10 screenshots reveal new UI, Siri-like voice interface

Leaked BlackBerry 10 screenshots reveal new UI, possible Sirilike voice interface

It's a little over a month until BlackBerry 10's official introduction, but that hasn't stopped leaked screenshots of the OS from circulating on the web. Some folks on the Tinhte Vietnamese forums, which also revealed hands-on video and gallery of the BlackBerry 10 L-Series, have just released pictures of RIM's revamped phone UI. Most notably, the images provide a sneak peek at a new "BlackBerry Hub" all-in-one message center along with an intriguing voice interface that reminds us a lot of Siri. We also get a preview of how apps like Twitter, Facebook and Foursquare will look; unsurprisingly, they seem pretty similar to their Android and iOS cousins. It certainly looks as if the redesign is a complete overhaul rather than just a quick paint job, but we won't know the full details until we see it for ourselves early next year. Until then, head on over to the source to get an early look at what could be RIM's savior.
