WatchESPN streaming reaches AT&T U-verse subscribers

U-verse News: WatchESPN Now Available to AT&T U-verse Customers

AT&T and ESPN today announced the availability of WatchESPN, enabling AT&T U-verse® customers to access ESPN networks live online at WatchESPN.com, on smartphones and tablets via the award-winning WatchESPN app, and through ESPN on Xbox LIVE to Gold members.

Just weeks ahead of the start of the MLB season and in advance of major sporting events like The Masters and NBA Playoffs, customers who receive ESPN's linear networks as part of their AT&T U-verse TV subscription can now stream live events and programming from ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3 and ESPNU from the convenience of their computers, smartphones, tablets or Xbox. Additionally, customers can enjoy ESPN Goal Line and ESPN Buzzer Beater through WatchESPN when those channels are in season.

Customers with a supported smartphone or tablet can download the free app by visiting the iTunes App Store, Google Play Store or Amazon Appstore for Android. The app will prompt customers to enter their AT&T U-verse subscriber credentials before accessing live content from WatchESPN. On computers, customers can visit http://watchespn.com/activate/att and provide their AT&T U-verse IDs and passwords to access live programming online. Additionally, Xbox LIVE Gold members can download the ESPN experience and verify their subscription for access through their Xbox.

Disney Junior will be available to AT&T U-verse TV subscribers on Friday, March 29.

Additional authenticated products that include WATCH Disney Channel, WATCH Disney XD and WATCH Disney Junior – accessible across a variety of platforms and devices both in-home and out-of-the-home – will be coming soon to AT&T U-verse TV subscribers.

WatchESPN is available for use on the following mobile devices: iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad (must have OS 4.0 or later), and Android phones and tablets running version 2.3.3 and above.

Windows Store unofficially reaches 50,000 apps

Windows Store unofficially reaches 50,000 apps

It can be scary mustering developer support for a brand-new app platform -- just ask BlackBerry. Microsoft may feel slightly relaxed, then, if MetroStore Scanner's unofficial estimates are on the ball. It sees over 50,380 active Windows Store apps as of this writing, which isn't bad for a shop that reportedly had less than half this amount back in November. Whether or not you consider it progress compared to the rest of the market is another matter: the tally is a big leap over the estimated 14,000 apps in the Mac App Store, but it won't make either Apple or Google break out in a cold sweat when compared against the six-digit app counts of their mobile app stores. Microsoft currently declines to confirm the numbers, although the company tells us that the app count may vary from country to country. For now, it's safe to presume that a fair number of app writers are onside with Microsoft's tile- and touch-driven vision of the future.

Xolo X1000 reaches India, mates a 2GHz Atom with a 4.7-inch screen for $369

Xolo X1000 mates 2GHz Atom with a 47inch screen for $369

For all the credit the Xolo X900 earned as the first Intel-based smartphone, it grew long in the tooth very quickly between that 4-inch screen and 1.6GHz Atom chip. The solution, naturally, is a straight-up modernization like the X1000. The new smartphone jumps to a more contemporary 4.7-inch, 720p LCD and the same 2GHz Atom Z2480 that we saw in the RAZR i. Most other components won't rock the boat for those who bought in last year, though. There's still the familiar high-speed 8-megapixel rear camera as well as a 1.3-megapixel camera at the front, 1GB of RAM, 21Mbps HSPA+ 3G and 8GB of expandable storage. The X1000 is even using Ice Cream Sandwich instead of some flavor of Jelly Bean. Still, the price is right -- a contract-free 19,999 rupees ($369) for the Indian debut could have at least a few customers willing to bring some Intel Inside.

NVIDIA's GeForce Experience gaming tune-up reaches open beta

NVIDIA GeForce Experience beta

NVIDIA wants to take the mystery out of gaming performance through its GeForce Experience. It's been hard to appreciate that when the app has been in closed testing for well over a month, however -- so it's good news that the company just recently opened the beta program to everyone. Along with bringing faster and better-looking graphics to the PC gaming masses, the public version widens the optimizations to include Core 2 processors, 2,560 x 1,440 displays and games like Far Cry 3 and Mechwarrior Online. There's no word yet on when the app will reach its finished form, although we hope it's sooner rather than later when Project Shield's remote PC game streaming will depend on GeForce Experience to run. For now, players running Windows can grab the beta at the source link.
