Samsung's Android-Powered Galaxy Camera Will Cost a Whopping $500 The Samsung Galaxy Camera, that bizarre Android Frankenstein cam we love to love, is going to be hitting store shelves this Friday, November 16th for a whopping $500.

The crazy smart camera is coming to AT&T's 4G network, but the $500 price tag doesn't even include any kind of data plan; you'll have to lock it into one of AT&T's standard data plans at an additional price. If you buy the camera along with a Samsung handset though, you'll qualify for a $100 discount on the total, which could take a little of the edge off.

The specs on this device have been a known quantity for a while, but it'll be running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, features a 4.8-inch HD display, a quad-core 1.4 GHz processor, a 21x optical zoom lens, and a 16-megapixel backside illuminated CMOS sensor. It's a sweet little device, but the price tag is going to make it a bit hard to swallow, especially since you'll need a data plan on top if you really want to make good on its potential. Taking pictures straight from your camera to the web is nice, but it's going to cost you.
